Mistake #1: Arranging Someone Else's List
Sending clients directly to your website without recording their information, is exactly what you're doing in creating someone else's list at your own expense.
What you should do is create a squeeze page where you can record the information of every client who you direct to your website. By doing so, you're building a list for yourself for selling any number of products in future. Remember, the dollars are hidden in the list!
Mistake #2: Not Keeping In Touch With Your Prospects.
How can you let go of people who purchased something from you? You MUST follow up with your contacts. After all, you've spent your precious time and put in effort in finding quality clients for your affiliate marketing site. You can't let that be the end of it.
Do you have any newsletters, articles or free reports that you could send to your prospects to keep in touch with them? How about any updated or valuable information about your products and services? These are all ways that you can keep in contact with your prospects. But bare in mind here that you're walking a tight rope between stalking your prospects, and keeping in touch with them.
Mistake #3: Being Too Aggressive With Your Prospects.
So, you wanna make your sale at gunpoint, eh? This is affiliate marketing guys, not some mafia playing extortion games! Face it: most people don't buy the first time. Many of them will never buy, no matter how fabulous or useful you think your product is.
So, it's useless (even bad) to send e-mails asking, "Why haven't you bought my product?" or "Don't you want to get rich?" Such e-mails put you in a bad light. They may even ruin your prospects. Patience is the key to successful build up of clientele.
Mistake #4: Posting Multiple Offers In One Mailing.
Don't send or promote more than one offer to your clients. If you do, you'll only create confusion, and your client may decide not to do business with you. Why would you want to confuse your customer by sending multiple offers, when (s)he asked for information on just one? There's simply no reason to do this, unless of course, the customer specifically asked you about other programs, products or services you have or are involved with.
Mistake #5: Promoting Several Affiliate Marketing Programs Simultaneously.
For the men reading this article, I ask you, "Can you date 5 women at the same time?" And for the women, I'd ask the same question, "Can you date 5 men at the same time?" It's a nice concept to think about, particularly in regard to who those 5 women and 5 men were. But in terms of marketing an affiliate program, you'd be well advised to stay with one program in the beginning. Before running off trying to promote 2 or 3 other programs, concentrate on the one you're already in by obtaining the experience, dexterity and money from it, before getting into something else.
Don't panic if you've committed any one (or more) of these mistakes. They can be corrected, and it's not as hard as you might think.
