Personal Branding Myth Exposed

Many have become confused about what Personal Branding is. Most have a mythical idea that it's about putting video on your website, but that's the BS. It's much more than that.

Where did the myth come from? I was coaching a prominent Global Resorts affiliate in 2007 and mentioned personal branding and video as the top ways to market and he took it to extreme. He wanted to know how I'd been winning awards and being on the top seller list. I didn't have time to explain it all, but what I gave him was enough for him to "think" he knows what personal branding is all about.

Building years of equity have allowed Trump, Oprah, Jordan and Regan to become quickly recognized without saying their entire name. You know I'm taking Real Estate, TV, Basketball and communication. These are a few top brands.

Let's pick on my personal favorite Donald Trump. He didn't become "The Trumpster"...and you couldn't "Trump" the competition until there were years of building a reputation. Donald Trump started building his brand when he was a child. He'd follow his father Fred to work, yes real estate. Building with toy blocks in the corner of his Dad's office

Donald Trump was not the billionaire first, he started out looking to move into Manhattan. He did it slow, but he had big goals. His first project in Manhattan allowed him to turn a burned out hotel into a shiny new gem. Ahh...the reputation that allowed him to goto his next project.

Your reputation is a part of your personal brand. It also takes a track record, and being the first person that comes to mind on a topic. "I'm Everywhere" is something I hear often, and it's part of my personal brand.

As you learn more about personal branding and how Global Resorts affiliates should be using it, you begin to see that most don't even understand it. You want to be UNIQUE, yet when you look at the websites of Global Resorts affiliates, you see that many look almost exactly alike.

I do marketing coaching, that's part of my brand. So, I spend 80% of my coaching time teaching my team members to market their global resorts business. Building a personal brand requires consistency, uniqueness, understandability, must be focused and must fill a need the market has.

Before falling for the Personal Branding, YouTube, and Google Adwords marketing plan, do your research to find a marketing plan that will allow you be successful. You don't want be just another personal selling Global Resorts Network Memberships.
